Leader of the Scorchers team, Taro brings experience and quiet leadership to the World Race. At first he has little patience for any shortcomings in the other drivers (especially Vert), but he eventually respects them for their proven abilities. He and Lani Tam also develop a relationship during the World Race.

At the time of the World Race, Taro is already wealthy from his past winnings (or at least 'was' having won millions). He also climbed Mt. Everest - twice.

Despite his reserved nature throughout the World Race, he seems to relax a bit in the race to return the Wheel of Power to Hot Wheels City. The look of joy on his face as he's smashing through CLYP cars and his wise cracks show a more human side of Taro.
