Formulated by Monkey to be an improvement over Nitrox2, the mixture in The Speed of Silence had catastrophic results on Hollowback during testing. The name seemed to be derived on the spot while Monkey was trying to impress Lani. Monkey made the claim that it was useful while a car was in reverse. Maybe he improved it and Nitrox3 1/2 was being used by Taro when he escaped from the Racing Drones Headquarters later in the movie (Taro used his Nitrox while in reverse in that scene).

By Breaking Point, conversations seem to indicate that Nitrox 3 1/2 is in production and is being used by the Metal Maniacs drivers. This is speculated from the fact that the flames produced by Nitrox use are orange for the Metal Maniacs, but blue when used by the Teku.
